ChiangMai Provincial court
The 700 Year Stadium Sports Complex is located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, and has almost anything that your average sports enthusiast could want. It was originally built in the mid 1990 for the Southeast Asian Games, and its title serves as commemoration of the 700th anniversary of Chiang Mai. There are many events which take place at the sports complex, such as ice skating shows and drag racing to name a couple. There is an impressive list of facilities offered at the complex. In addition to having an Olympic size swimming pool and high dive, the facility also offers tennis courts, basketball courts, a weight lifting gym and exercise equipment, free badminton courts outside, golf practice in the back of the facility, a shooting range, volleyball, aerobic dance, a running track which circles the entire facility, and a football field. There are toilets, showers, changing booths and lockers available as well.
The sports center consists of a large outdoor stadium, three indoor stadiums, several fields equipped with field gear, a velodrome for bicycle racing and plenty of wide open grassy space for anything else you can imagine. On the other side of Canal Road, there is a wide open grassy space which is commonly used for outdoor events such as the annual country fair, which occurs during the first two weeks of January, after new years.
In the back of the sports complex there is a large reservoir which is a trail head for a large network of trails ideal for hiking, mountain biking, or dog walking. If you know the basic direction, many of these trails can connect you to a separate network of tails that circle Huay Tung Tao Park which is about three kilometers to the north.
